Picton and Marlborough marine radio channels

Use VHF 18 for Picton Harbour Radio. VHF 18 replaced the former VHF 19 allocation; it did not replace the international distress channel, VHF 16.

Picton Harbour Radio

Picton Harbour Radio operates 24/7 on VHF 18 and provides harbour traffic and weather information. Port and harbour notices may direct vessels to contact it.

Marlborough-Nelson Marine Radio

Volunteer operators maintain a daily listening watch from 0700 to 2200 on VHF Channels 01, 04, 05, 60, 63, 65 and 66.

Distress and safety

VHF 16 remains the international distress, urgency, safety and calling channel and is monitored 24/7 in New Zealand. For immediate danger, make a MAYDAY call on VHF 16.
